Obviously I’ve been messing around with the layout of the site today. I’ve moved from Carrington-Text to P2, which I think suits my needs a bit better. I like the Posterous or Twitter feel of P2. We’ll see how long it lasts.

Commenting Made Easier

I’ve made it no secret that I really like IntenseDebate’s commenting system, but I’d just like to highlight a couple of additions to their platform that makes commenting on yickit.com, or any other site using IntenseDebate much easier.

Recently IntenseDebate has added support for OpenID, FacebookConnect, and Twitter Login which makes it easier for anyone to post on IntenseDebate sites without entering all of there contact info on many different sites.

Commenting has never been easier.

Blackberry WordPress Application

The WordPress team has released a beta application for blackberry phones. I’m posting from that application right now and I must say that I’m impressed.

If you want to try it out for yourself go to blackberry.wordpress.org/install on your blackberry and install the program.

31 Days to a Better Blog

I Just wanted to take a moment and let everyone know that I am taking part in ProBlogger’s 31 Days to Build a Better Blog. Why you ask? I say why not. I know I can improve the quality and especially the variety of my writing here, and I’m sure this process will help. So look for some new things in this virtual notebook. We’re already on Day Three, and my task is to promote a Blog post. I’ve done this in a variety of different ways in the past, so don’t expect anything ground breaking right here.

Well actually, I’m a couple of days behind in the process. Scratch that; Behind really isn’t the correct word. I’ve done the work for Day One, and I’m still working on Day Two’s list post. The list post I have planned should be pretty unusual for yickit.com and I am pretty excited about posting it soon. But right now I’m still working on editing the post, because as always my fiancée, the Minnesota Twins, work, and law school¹ come before posting here. So be on the lookout for a list post this week.

FTW? Does this count as promoting a post? One that happens as of now to be unpublished? Count it!

Testing Adobe Contribute CS4

This is just a test post. I’m sorry if some of you are viewing this post that you are not interested in hearing about. I’ve been looking for a offline desktop application designed for publishing to a blog for quite some time. I generally have not been all that impressed with the software out on the market, but I am always willing to try a new product. Therefore I’m currently writing this post using Adobe Contribute CS4.

We’ll see if Contribute has all of the features that I am looking for:

Offline Editing;
Instant and Delayed Publishing;
Excellent integration/compatibility with WordPress;
Works well with posting images from desktop;
Allows use of online categories; and,
Uploads tags correctly.

Well, I guess it is time to see if this works correctly.

If anyone has any other suggestions of programs that I could use, please leave those in the comments below.

Site Changes

Wow, I’ve changed the site template about five times in the last two weeks. I’m pretty sure I’m done. I might make some minor tweeks, but I think I’m finally happy with how the site looks now. I did like the last theme [a child theme which ran on the thematic framework] but it took too long to load.

Now we’re running on the carrington blog theme with a custom style sheet. We’ll see how it works out for the next couple of weeks.

Just trying out a new post editing software: Zoundry Raven.

So far I really like it. Rockpost2 and Qumara didn’t meet my needs[or my support requests for that matter] and I am very happy to be trying out this software.

If I have any problems I’ll be sure to post them.

Chat with Yickit on Google Talk

I’ve just added Google’s Chat Back Application to this website. Chat Back works with Google Talk and allows any site visitors to chat with me. When I’m available through Google Talk the icon will say I’m available and allow vistors to speak with me.

All you have to do is click on Chat With Yickit icon on the upper right hand side of the site. The chat window will then open up.

I don’t really have any particulars in mind for Chatting, and so long as the talk is appropriate I’ll respond. So enjoy this new Yickit.com feature.

Site Update – The Forum (A message board)

Site News:

I’ve added a new feature to yickit.com: A message board.

Because the board is fully integrated with WordPress, current yickit.com users won’t have to re-register, just click on “The Forum” button above. New users, set a user name and password; provide a valid email address and you’re ready to post (email address not published or sold). Any user can post messages! To get started, click on “The Forum” button at the top of this web page.

I’ve already added a few categories for messages: Baseball, Sports, Politics, Random, but if you would like to see a new category just let me know.

As always, comments and suggestions are always welcome.
