[Edit from Mexico: I'm apparently not good at remembering to schedule posts that I've written. So I'm doing this from a funky Mexican computer. A couple of keys are different on the keyboard which surprised me a bit. Onto the 10. Oh everything went according to plan below.]

If everything has gone according to plan, I was married last Saturday and am now spending time with my wife in Cozumel, Mexico. We decided that the H1N1 virus couldn’t scare us from our original plans. I’ll let everyone know whether or not that was a sound decision.

Matt Kearney – Nothing Left to Lose: “Undeniable”

Yellowcard – Paper Walls: “Fighting”

Lost Prophets – Start Something: “Sway”

Dierks Bentley – Long Trip Alone: “Trying to Stop Your Leaving”

Elton John – Greatest Hits, Vol. 2: “Tiny Dancer”

Daniel Powter – Daniel Powter: “Song 6”

30 Seconds to Mars – 30 Seconds to Mars: “Year Zero”

Snow Patrol – Eyes Open: “Shut Your Eyes”

Augustana – All the Stars and Boulevards: “Marie [Bonus Track]”

Frank Sinatra – “One for My Baby (And One More for the Road)”

Matt Kearney is a pretty good way to start this list: something all genders can enjoy. Or something along those lines . . .

Fighting is a great running song, and one of my favorites from Paper Walls.

What am I fighting for?

There must be something more.

For all these words I sing,

Do you feel anything?

As far as I’m concerned Dierks Bentley can do no wrong. There I said it. Long Trip Alone is a terrific country pop album, full of songs about losing your girl/dog/job while still sounding upbeat.

Tiny Dancer is on of my wife’s favorite songs. It probably has something to do with her years spent in ballet. Or her love of sequins. Or her appreciation of large glasses.

I know how some of you feel about 30 Seconds. You’re wrong.

I don’t like it when one of the best songs on an album is a “bonus track.” Bonus tracks should be things like remixes, b-sides, or acoustic versions, especially when the bonus track could have replaced any of the non-bonus songs and made a better album to boot.

The bookends seem appropriate enough.

What is on your list for June 5th 2009?

No Use for a Name – Hard Rock Bottom: “Friends of the Enemy”

Coldplay – X&Y: “Track 14”

Bowling For Soup – Drunk Enough to Dance: “Life After Lisa”

Bonus Song because it just fits in: Simple Plan – No Pads, No Helmets…Just Balls: “Meet You There”

I’ve seen Hellogoodbye live once, where they opened for Motion City Soundrack at Drake. MCS was great, but Hellogoodbye had one of the weirdest sets I’ve ever seen. I almost stopped listening to them after that. Cold Wars Kids’ last two albums are some of my favorites right now. I just can’t stop listening to them. Man this list is turning out well so far: Lit and No Use for a Name popped up. “Friends of the Enemy” might be one of the greatest running songs ever written; the mood and tempo are perfect. Dierks decides to shake things up with some twang, and its probably the closest to religious subject matter that this list will get too.

This list gets the yickit seal of approval. The only song I don’t really listen too on this list is the Aerosmith, and even that song isn’t too shabby.

I also recently acquired three new albums:

The Libertines – Time For Heroes

Less Than Jake – Pezcore [10 Year Special Edition]

Modest Mouse – The Lonesome Crowded West

I’m digging all three so far. What’s on your list today?
