This list just kept going.  Besides the Aerosmith and Oasis, these are all songs that I regularly listen to in my collection.  Thanks to Andrew [go Bulldogs!] who directed me to the Jeff Tweedy/Wilco EPs that are available online.

Do you like The Hold Steady or Liffter Puller?  Then you need to go to their Live Taped Shows archive, which is where their live cuts on this list originated.
Finally, I’m going to end with two Pumpkins songs: “Today” and “Tonight, Tonight.”  The “Tonight, Tonight” single cassette tape might be the first actual commercially produced cassette tape I ever owned:

    Today [Listen on posterous]

    Tonight, Tonight [Listen on posterous]

    Gloomy October in DC

The weather here in DC this week has not been great. The sky has been overcast, and its been raining for what seems like days on end. But then again its been snowing in Fargo and much of the midwest already this year, so I shouldn’t complain. Speaking of Fargo, I guess The Hold Steady will be playing the Fargo Theater this weekend. Seriously. Great concert at an interesting venue for the low low price of $16. If you’re in Fargo you have no excuse not to go to this show. It’s not like you can enjoy the nice fall weather anymore.

Man, I wish The Hold Steady would come and play in DC. Crap. I was just checking out their show schedule and they played the 930 Club in August, how did I miss that? Oh well, I’ll catch them next time they’re coming through. Here is my random 10 for Friday October, 16th 2009:

    1. Saves the Day – Can’t Slow Down: “Collision”
    2. Angels & Airwaves – We Don’t Need to Whisper: “Good Day”
    3. Jet – Get Born: “Radio Song”
    4. The Starting Line – Direction: “Are You Alone”
    5. Bowling for Soup – Bowling for Soup Goes to the Movies: “I Melt with You”
    6. Something Corporate – Leave Through the Window: “I Want to Save You”
    7. The Libertines – The best Of: A Time for Heroes: “Tell the King”
    8. Bowling for Soup – A Hangover You Don’t Deserve: “Trucker Hat”
    9. The Strokes – Is This It: “Is This It”
    10. The Goo Goo Dolls – Hold Me Up: “Kevin’s Song”

I installed the Zemanta plugin you told me about. It looks like it will take some getting used to. It's not too compatible with my neruotic blogging habits.

regarding #3 & #9: we were big Synergy fans in college (still am); Synergy is Larry Fast, electronic keyboard pioneer. If you haven’t heard him as Synergy, you might have heard him playing keyboards on Peter Gabriel’s early albums & tours. His first LP Electronic Realisations is brilliant.

    Friday 10 – Easter Weekend

Hope every one has a happy and safe holiday weekend.  Here’s my 10 random songs for April 10th 2009:

    1. Cold War Kids – Loyalty to Loyalty: “I’ve Seen Enough”
    2. Our Lady PeaceHappiness Is Not a Fish That You Can Catch: “One Man Army”
    3. Aerosmith – O, Yeah! Ultimate Aerosmith Hits Disc 2: “Falling in Love (Is Hard on the Knees)”
    4. Hellogoodbye – Zombies! Aliens! Vampires! Dinosaurs!: “Oh, It Is Love”
    5. Lit – Atomic: “Drop D”
    6. Our Lady Peace – Clumsy: “Shaking”
    7. No Use for a Name – Hard Rock Bottom: “Friends of the Enemy”
    8. Dierks Bentley – Long Trip Alone: “The Heaven I’m Headed To”
    9. Coldplay – X&Y: “Track 14”
    10. Bowling For Soup – Drunk Enough to Dance: “Life After Lisa”
    11. Bonus Song because it just fits in: Simple Plan – No Pads, No Helmets…Just Balls: “Meet You There”

I’ve seen Hellogoodbye live once, where they opened for Motion City Soundrack at Drake.  MCS was great, but Hellogoodbye had one of the weirdest sets I’ve ever seen.  I almost stopped listening to them after that.  Cold Wars Kids’ last two albums are some of my favorites right now.  I just can’t stop listening to them. Man this list is turning out well so far: Lit and No Use for a Name popped up.  “Friends of the Enemy” might be one of the greatest running songs ever written; the mood and tempo are perfect.  Dierks decides to shake things up with some twang, and its probably the closest to religious subject matter that this list will get too.

This list gets the yickit seal of approval.  The only song I don’t really listen too on this list is the Aerosmith, and even that song isn’t too shabby.

I also recently acquired three new albums:

    1. The Libertines – Time For Heroes
    2. Less Than Jake – Pezcore [10 Year Special Edition]
    3. Modest Mouse – The Lonesome Crowded West

I’m digging all three so far.  What’s on your list today?
