Whose site is this anyway?
I grew up in Fargo, North Dakota and attended South High School.2 I obtained an undergraduate degree at Drake University, where I majored in Rhetoric and Communications Studies, and minored in Mathematics. I really enjoyed my classes on classical rhetoric and the theories of persuasion.
My long-term career plans are still in the works. I have diverse interests which makes it hard to pigeon-hole myself into one career path. ”Law” proper is about as far as I can get route-wise.
I’ve lived in a few different cities: Minneapolis, MN; Fargo, ND; Des Moines, IA; Arlington3, VA. Currently I live in the Cleveland Park neighborhood of Washington, DC.
This site exists only so I have an outlet if I want to write. There isn’t much of a focal point but I used to write about recent books I have read, movies I have seen, and of course the Minnesota Twins. More recently I’ve posted sporadically; taking a queue from the schedule the topics have become more varied. Maybe someday I’ll have something more interesting to write about than telling North Dakota to get out of the national news.
One last thing: People almost always ask me why I have a blog. The short answer is that I need the writing practice. A lot of what I do in the “real world” involves writing. In order to improve my writing and get the practice I needed, I started this blog. Simply put, I write to improve my writing. I’ve found that I almost never have to answer this question anymore.
